Plain English summary
WatchQueue does not run its own servers and does not collect your personal data for us. The app talks to The Movie Database for show and movie info, and — only if you choose to connect them — to Trakt and your own Plex server. Your watchlist syncs privately through your own iCloud account. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
What WatchQueue does
WatchQueue is an Apple TV (tvOS) app that helps you keep a watchlist of movies and shows, see where each title is available to stream, and track which episode to watch next. The developer operates no backend servers — the app communicates directly between your device and the third-party services described below.
Data we collect
The developer collects nothing. WatchQueue does not:
- Operate any server that receives or stores your personal data
- Use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or telemetry SDKs
- Require an account with the developer or sell or share data with anyone
- Track you across apps or websites
The data you create in the app — your watchlist, watched-episode progress, tags, and your selected streaming services — is stored on your device and in your private iCloud, described under "Local & iCloud storage" below.
Services WatchQueue connects to
🎬
The Movie Database (TMDB) — always used
WatchQueue uses the TMDB API to look up movie and show details, artwork, episode lists, and streaming availability. These are standard, anonymous content requests — no personal account information is sent. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Your use is also governed by
TMDB's Privacy Policy.
🔗
Trakt — optional, only if you connect it
If you choose to connect Trakt, you sign in directly with Trakt using their secure authorization flow. WatchQueue then reads and updates your watch history and progress on your behalf. Your Trakt credentials are never seen by the developer — only an access token is stored on your device. You can disconnect at any time in Settings. Your Trakt data is governed by
Trakt's Privacy Policy.
🗄️
Plex & Infuse — optional, only if you connect it
If you connect Plex, WatchQueue communicates with your own Plex account and server to mark which titles you already own and to launch playback. Connection details and tokens are stored on your device. Opening a title in Plex or Infuse hands off to those apps, which have their own privacy policies. No Plex information is sent to the developer.
☁️
iCloud — used for sync
Your watchlist and progress are synced across your devices using Apple's iCloud key-value storage, tied to your own Apple ID. This data lives in your private iCloud and is governed by
Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to it.
Local & iCloud storage
WatchQueue stores the following on your device and, where noted, in your private iCloud:
- Watchlist & episode progress — the titles you add and what you've watched, synced through your iCloud key-value store
- Selected streaming services — the services you pick so the app can surface them first, stored in app preferences
- Region — used to show accurate streaming availability, stored in app preferences
- Connection tokens — if you connect Trakt or Plex, the access tokens needed to talk to those services, stored on your device
You can clear this data at any time by disconnecting services in Settings or removing the app.
Children's privacy
WatchQueue does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require a developer account and collects no personal data for the developer.
